Voice to Text Conversion

I know that meetings can be recorded within OneNote. Is it then possible to
convert the voices to text? Does this require an add-in?

Dragon Naturally Speaking 9.5 claims the ability to recognize dictation but
I haven't tried it.

The OneNote audio recorder is so efficient I prefer to use ON for recording
voice over's for video demos.

RE: Voice to Text Conversion

OneNote itself cannot transcribe from voice to text. It can search through
audio and video files to words though. In tools \ options \ audio and video,
there is a checkbox to allow search to look through those types of files for
words.

In the OneNote 2007 Guide, the second to last page in the "More Cool
Features" section has a short tutorial on how to enable this, and includes
some tips to make it work better.

Hope this helps,

RE: Voice to Text Conversion

John,

Do you know if this feature works in onenote 2007 installed on XP with
Search Desktop installed also?

even if I click under "tools" to enable this audio search indexing
functionality, it does not index audio files. Therefore when I search it does
not find any words on the recorded speech.

any clues?

RE: Voice to Text Conversion

yes, it works in that configuration.

How long did you wait after enabling search before searching? The searching
takes a long time (hours are easily possible) to build the initial index, and
the process typically runs at low priority.
