UAC Causing "has not been installed for the current user" Error

I have a new PC running Vista 64. Whenever I try to run any Office 2007
program (like Outlook), I get the message "Microsoft Outlook has not been
installed for the current user. Please run setup to install the application."
It works okay when I turn UAC (User Account Control) off. I have tried
removing the trial Office that came with the PC and Internet Security and
reloaded Office several times, but it still happens. No other errors are
noted on the PC.

Does anybody know how to find out why Office 2007 chokes when UAC is on?
The PC vendor’s solution was to reload the system with the system restore
disk. :-(

RE: UAC Causing "has not been installed for the current user" Error

I have the identical problem, and I did not change anything when it started
happening. One day, Office 2007 started properly, then next day, I had to
turn off UAC. I have searched for solutions on line, but no one has found
any cure.

I did when I ran into the error and I don't recall any error. I will run it
again to verify.

RE: UAC Causing "has not been installed for the current user" Erro

I ran Office Diagnostics again before turning UAC back on. My account type
was standard user. It ran with no problem.

I turned UAC on and rebooted (some updates were installed), ran Word and it
ran Office setup then failed with original problem. I ran Office Diagnostics
again and it ran with no problem.

I turned UAC off and rebooted, ran Word and it ran Office setup then failed
with the original problem (what the heck!). I ran Office Diagnostics again
and it ran with no problem.

I logged off then on as an administrator and changed my user account type to
administrator. Logged back on to my account and ran Word. No problem. I
tried changing my account type back to standard user and Word again failed
(). Office Diagnostics runs fine without reporting any problem. Word 2007
works again when I changed my account type back to administrator.

Hmmmmm. Now I must run with UAC off and with my account type as an
administrator if I want to run Office 2007. Very scary. It’s good that I
have a dummy account to surf the web.
