General mail failure office 2007

Hello
When I am using excel or word and want to send the file as an attachment I
get a message "General mail failure. quit microsoft office excel, restart the
mail system, and try again."
I close outlook and the try sending the file and that will work fine but not
when outlook 2007 is running. I can attach files in outlook and send them I
just cant send them while in excel or word with outlook open. yes I have done
detect and repair. Does anyone have a solution for this? I searched MS KB, i
googled it and nothing comes up. Your help would be appreciated.
