Installing FrontPage 2003 with Office 2007?

I had to rebuild my computer over the weekend. Previously, I had Office
Student & Teacher 2003 and FrontPaqe 2003 installed without a problem (i.e.,
FP recognized my install of office as a valid prerequisite). For this build I
installed my copy of Office 2007 that I received at a Microsoft hosted event.
Now when I try to install FP2003 I get an error that a valid copy of Office
cannot be found. I tried to put in the CD with Office S&T and that fails too.

Any ideas???

Thanks,
MK

Re: Installing FrontPage 2003 with Office 2007?

I'm running FP2003 and Office 2007 with no problems. Specifically what does
the error message say? Please do not paraphrase - the wording can make a
difference.

Re: Installing FrontPage 2003 with Office 2007?

Here are the exact steps ...

*****

Run the FrontPage 2003 Setup program. After entering the Product Key, the
following error message is seen.

*****

"The product key you entered requires a version of Microsoft Office 97, 2000
or XP to upgrade. If one of these versions of Microsoft Office is not
installed on your machine, you will need to supply a version of Microsoft
Office on CD-ROM in the next step. Click OK to continue with the upgrade or
click Cancel to stop the installation."

[OK] [Cancel]

*****

After clicking OK, the following is seen.

"Setup cannot locate a version of Microsoft Office 97, 2000 or XP on your
machine. If you have installed Microsoft Office on your hard drive or
available network share, please select the drive where Office is located."

"If you have a version of Microsoft Office on CD-ROM, place it in your
CD-ROM drive now and select the drive where Office is located."

Drive: []

*****

Replacing the FrontPage CD with the Office CD and selecting the CD-ROM drive
letter in the above combo box results in the following.

"Error 1608. Setup could locate a version of Microsoft Office 97, 2000 or XP
on the selected drive. Click OK to stop the installation. If you have a
version of Microsoft Office on CD-ROM, run Setup again."

"For more information see
[path]\SETUP.CHM under "Locating a Previous Version of Office"."

[OK]

*****

Clicking OK gets the following.

"Installation ended prematurely because of an error."

[OK]

*****

The installation exits.

When I rebuilt my machine I took my old drive with Office and FrontPage
installed and working and made it the slave in the new system. I've pointed
the installer to that drive and I get the same error.

Everything worked before, but now that I have Office 2007 installed and not
Office 2003 the FP installer does not recognize a legit install.

Ideas?? Thanks!!

Re: Installing FrontPage 2003 with Office 2007?

Okay......You own an UPGRADE of FrontPage, not a full version. Did you
notice that it's calling for Office 97, 2000, or XP, NOT 2003?

Yeah ... chaulk it up as a blonde moment ... too little sleep and thinking I
had to have the latest and greatest to validate the install ... I dug out my
CD with Office 97 and all's well ... thanks for your responses!

Re: Installing FrontPage 2003 with Office 2007?

I have the Full version of FrontPage 2003 and Office 2007 enterprise. Now,
Why did Microsoft discontinue the FrontPage in 2007? I don't know. My problem
is that I had Office 2003 Installed. I then installed 2007 as an upgrade,
though it is a full version. I now Have everything 2007, except I have
FrontPage 2003 and Project 2003. Now, when I go to download the updates, and
templates for Office 2007, I can't, it says that it couldn't Validate the
office components, the Only two, that aren't included in office 2007. How can
I get this so I can upgrade. I do not need Project 2003, only Frontpage.

Re: Installing FrontPage 2003 with Office 2007?

1. Besides being impolite, hijacking another person's thread decreases the
chances of your problem being seen.
2. For Enterprise licensing/registration problems, speak with your Systems
Administrator, or your software Reseller.
