| MS Office 2007 Backward Compatible w/ Office 2003 & Office XP Hi, through an employee purchase program I can buy a copy of Office 2007 (Outlook, Publisher, Powerpoint, Word, Excel & Access) for $19.95 or I can buy Office 2003 w/ the same programs for $19.95. At work we're using Office 2003 and at home I use Office XP. I use XP Pro and work and at home. I'd like to buy Office 2007 but want to make sure it's backward compatible. Do you think Office 2007 is the one to purchase? Thanks, Mike |

| Re: MS Office 2007 Backward Compatible w/ Office 2003 & Office XP Yes, it is backwards compatible you just have to rember to save as the format that you want. The native 2007 format is not compatible without an update to the 2003 vbersion. I am not sure if there is an update for the office xp. | Re: MS Office 2007 Backward Compatible w/ Office 2003 & Office XP Office 2007 is backward compatible all the way back to '97. However, you do need to be sure to SaveAs '97-2003 to ensure that everyone can read the files. Office 2000 through 2003 can download a compatibility pack so that they can read 2007 file formats. They will not always have the ability to edit the document in the same way, though. I would recommend that you get the 2007 version unless you are trying to improve your skills for work. The ribbon is quite different from the earlier versions. Hope that helps. -- Dawn Crosier Microsoft MVP "Education Lasts a Lifetime" This message was posted to a newsgroup, Please post replies and questions to the group so that others can learn as well.
