| reinstallation Forgive me if this question was asked, it's hard to search for the right words. 2 questions: 1. If I install Office 2007 Ultimate and then have to reinstall it (when i finally decide to buy Vista Ultimate in a couple months) will I need to call someone to reconfirm that I own the product key to Office 2007, or is it "good to go" since it was the same computer? 2. I know that Vista can only be used on one computer... but rumor has it that Office 2007 can be installed on "TWO" computers (laptop and desktop of same owner). I haven't seen it written anywhere on the box and I'd like some rock-solid confirmation on that before I install it on another computer of mine. Really appreciate the help. -- "I should have paid attention in computer class..." |

| RE: reinstallation Hi FRUSTRATED, I am not an expert but a student end-user and hope the following may be somewhat helpful. 1) This page: http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;en-us;823570 or this page: http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/he...334341033.aspx I imagine that if you uninstall on your current machine, you should be able to reinstall when you upgrade to Vista but I am not 100% sure. You raise very good questions though and I hope someone will be able to help you. There is an 800 number on one of the above links and I think they may be able to confirm this. 2) In another topic, garfield-n-odie says: "If it is a retail-box copy, then the answer is one desktop and one laptop both owned by you. If it is a preinstalled (OEM) copy that comes with a new computer, then the answer is one (only the computer that the software came with)." Good luck! | RE: reinstallation HelloDaly, Thanks for stepping up to the plate. However, after going thru both the links there isn't a hard answer... the first link wasn't enough answer and the second only explained the process of activation rather than the parameters around activation. As far as calling the 800 number, i'm going to hold out and let one of those MVP's or forum controllers handle this question for "knowledge base resource" sake... in other words, for the next guy with the same question. Also, calling the 800 number will also invariably lead me to someone outsourced that has a scripted answer further complicating a simple answer and adding to the ... you guessed it..."Frustration" as my handle indicates. Thanks again though, hope someone from Micro has the answer! -- "I should have paid attention in computer class..." | Re: reinstallation Hi Frustrated, Basically, there isn't a 'hard' answer on this. The activation of Office is tied to the hardware, rather than the Windows version you are using, but upgrading from one Windows version to another (rather than doing a clean install of Vista) can often lead to some interesting complications. You may or may not need to reactivate MS Office by internet connection or phone, but you should be able to reactivate it if it's the same machine no matter if you're using WinXP or WinVista. ======= <<"FRUSTRATED" <FRUSTRATED@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:01537046-0C05-46EE-AB55-49C3912C01CF@microsoft.com...
