One of my customers is using Office XP on Citrix and as we are rolling out
new servers wants to upgrade to Office 2003 or 2007.

They like the look of 2007 however they use an application which requires
Outlook but only supports XP/2003 at the moment.

If we go ahead and buy the Office 2007 licenses now would we be entitled to
install Office 2003 temporarily, until the application vendor supports 2007?

Only if you purchase Office 2003 with a license.

Hi Neil,

Whether you can use a 'downgrade' installation can depend on if you are under a Microsoft volume license and the options that were
chosen for that license. You may want to check with the licensing folks via the contact information on
http://microsoft.com/licensing

If they're currently working under Office XP you may also want to look at what short term benefits are to be gained by doing an
interim upgrade to Office 2003 from Office XP (2002) if Office 2007 is your goal.
