Upgrading Office 2003->Office 2007 trial: what happens to my Outlook 2003 .pst file?

I am currently running Office Pro 2003. I would like to upgrade by
downloading and installing the Office Professional 2007 Trial Edition.
Query: what will happen to my current emails and contact database stored in
my current .pst file? Will my data be automatically updated to Outlook 2007?
If not, how will I transfer my .pst file to Outlook 2007?

[I have read that I must first uninstall Outlook 2003. Is that accurate? Can
I uninstall Outlook 2003 without uninstalling Office Pro 2003 in its
entirely?]

The emails and contacts (over 4,000 contacts) are critical to my business,
so I need to understand how to assure that they will still be
availabe.accessible after I install the 2007 Trial Edition.

Yes you can uninstall only Outlook 2003 which is a requirement if you want to run Outlook 2007. Nothing will happen to your data as uninstalling ANY office product does not touch user data.

If they are critical to your business, you can allways recover from your
backup - you do have a backup dont you?

Re: Upgrading Office 2003->Office 2007 trial: what happens to my O

Just to add .. in case..... creating a backup is simple in OL2003

To back up your data ( All data in OL is stored in a personal store file
[pst] )

Go to File -> Data File management -> selec the apropiate pst file in the
list and click on OPEN FOLDER -> copy and backup the pst fles from there.

Now even if you have any problems you always have a backup

Re: Upgrading Office 2003->Office 2007 trial: what happens to my Outlook 2003 .pst file?

OK, I understand, but my real concern is, when I install Office 2007, will
my Outlook data (in my .pst file) be installed in Outlook 2007? If not, how
do I get my former OL2003 data into OL2007? I need to have continuus access
to my Outllook both before and after the upgrade - my business depends upon
my email and contact database. Without it, I am sunk.

Re: Upgrading Office 2003->Office 2007 trial: what happens to my Outlook 2003 .pst file?

1. Don't run a trial of anything on a business critical production machine.
2. Your Outlook data will not be touched. It should open just fine in Outlook 2007 without any manual configuration.
