Format issues when saving file from .docx to doc

I am having formatting issues when saving a file into a previous version of
Word. The oriiginal document was created with the 2007 version and when I
"save as" 97-2003 version, it seems to lose the orignal format. It actually
puts the page number onto the next page but not at the top like you would
assume...it pushes it between text. Almost like the page margins at the
bottom are increased. I have tried to delete and cut and then paste but it
has changed the page size...or so it seems. I hope this makes sense

Why bother? There is compatibility pack for users of pre 2007 Office to
open 2007 documents.

Re: Format issues when saving file from .docx to doc

I have the compatibility pack installed so it allows me to open the docx but
that computer has 2003 and revisions need to be done on the original...so
when it gets edited and sent back it saves it as a doc. But when it
originally converts it to the 2003 version it cuts off some of the font and
page numbers are now moved on to other pages. As I said it is like the docx
version has bigger page sizes LOL.

For example...

This is the formatting that shows up when viewing the original docx file
that was created and sent out. It includes the page number at the bottom of
the page (centered).

So the actual page would look like what you are seeing from the "For
example" down.

When it converts to the 2003 this is what it looks like:

For example...

This is the formatting that shows up when viewing the original docx file
that was created and sent out. It includes the page number at the bottom of
the page (centered).
NEW PAGE

So the actual page would look like what you are seeing from the "For
example" down.

I figured it is easier to explain it visually.

Re: Format issues when saving file from .docx to doc

How big is the actual document. If it is small enough then you could send
it to me and I will have a look at it. I have both versions on my system so
I can check them and covert them into doc version quite easily.

Re: Format issues when saving file from .docx to doc

It is 4.58mb. I have to maintain the format and be able to make changes in
the document and then return it for review once again. So it gets sent to me
as .docx, I open change, save and return as .doc, the receiver opens my
version and it is back to .docx. I thought It would be so much simpler to
ask him/her to have them save the document they created into 97-2003 version
but when it gets saved from .docx as .doc it loses its format. I could send
you at least one page of the document?
