How to disable (READ-ONLY) on Word/Excel document saved to a netwo

Greetings,

When I save a Word/Excel document, I normally drop a copy on the
company network. I wish to allow others to feel free to update it, but when
a user opens the document READ-ONLY is displayed on the top of the screen.

How do I disable this so all users can update the files without having
the author do all the work. I'm sure that there is something simple that
will do this, or am I barking up a tree.

Thank you for any assistance that you provide.

Check the users permissions to the location of the file on the network.
Must be Read/Write/Modify/Delete or problems will occur.

Check the permissions on the folder you copy the file to. Most likely the
group 'everyone' has only 'Read' permissions for that folder. You wil have to
have the administrator change the folder permissions.
