Having to buy Office

I have to say that I am disappointed with microsoft cashing in yet again. I
have just purchased my thhird computer, second notebook in ten years, and it
appears that office and to be honest I'm only interested in Word, can only be
aqquired by buying it? Why may I ask? It used to be a part of the whole
package with the OS but now it's become a peripheral... I only want Word and
I'm ****ed if I want to pay extra for the privlege. Don't microsoft make
enough money without making further advantages to their bank statements?

This may sound harsh but they're not a charity! Have you tried OpenOffice?

Totally WRONG. If some vendor chose to bundle it in as a free gift then you
were lucky. Everyone else has had to buy it separately ever since Office
came out.

Re: Having to buy Office

Basically you are spouting nonsense
MS has never bundled / included Office or Word in any of its operating
systems.
What your PC supplier chooses to include is up to them.

The o/s may include basic applications eg WordPad , NotePad, Pain etc if you
want anything else you have to pay for it, or use a free version, eg Open
Office

In your prior computers, Word may have been included as part of a Works
Suite not the OS. Word can be purchased as a stand alone application. For
family non-commercial use, you may prefer Office 2007 Home and Student.
