Does anyone besides me think the MSOFFICE 2007 is the worst program MS ever
rolled out?

I've been using MSOFFICE since it's first versions on Windows (read as
before they ran Word Perfect out of business).

Please tell me that others are having problems and that it's not just me.

"SOME" people are having problems - mainly due to their lack of application
skills.
Others, like me, who have also been using Office to an Advanced level ever
since Office 95, have no problems at all.

Maybe if you posted some specific problems, rather than a general rant,
someone would be able to help...

In MSoffice 2007, a great problem is that Frontpage is not available, is there any plugin need to install?

FrontPage is no longer produced. For most people that is not a great
problem. If you need to be able to create websites, use Expression Web.

FP hasn't come with versions of office for quite some time. There is no
"plug-in". And, FP has been discontinued in favor of Expression Web or
SharePoint Designer 7.

It wasn't included with Office 2003 either, and was retired from the
product lineup nearly 3 years ago.

Also, it wasn't included all of the Office XP (2002) suites.

I use Word, Excel, and PowerPoint every day, and losing the ability to
customize toolbars is a giant leap backwards. The QAT is a pathetic
substitute, and the ribbon bar is simply annoying. For example, try
pasting and cropping multiple images into Powperpoint or Word. The
differences between 2007 and previous versions require a complete change
in user behavior that is both arbitrary and capricious, in my IMHIO.

After almost six months of using 2007 my productivity is still lower
than it was with 2003. Tasks simply take longer to perform: More clicks,
more drags, more steps. It will probably take me another six months to
find and memorize whatever shortcuts exist and regain the skill level I
had with 2003.

I would refute all that. As an Advanced Office User since Office 95 I have
NEVER needed to customise anything. It's very over-rated, and if you get a
new machine, or have to use someone else's then you are stuck, aren't you?
Secondly having an infinitely customisable toolbar is a support NIGHTMARE
and this is why the ribbon was introduced, because the vast majority of
Office installations are in corporate environments.
If it takes you a YEAR to find and memorize the functions you use most
frequently, may I suggest that your application skills are not quite what
they should be, rather than a fault of the software?

Yep. But however much we beat it, the horse is dead. 2007's not going to
change. The good news is that we'll get a MUCH improved ribbon
customization story in Office 2010.

Quite a few of the keyboard shortcuts are the same as before. Hold down
the ALT key for a second and the shortcuts appear.

Oh, and please ignore any insulting replies you'll also receive to your
post. If they can't understand WHY you'd want to customize your copy of
Office, they'll never understand why losing that ability is so irritating.
Not worth arguing with them.

If you are referring to me, I spent many years as a Management/Systems
accountant in several major UK quoted companies and therefore feel entirely
qualified to talk about why people don't need to customise toolbars.

That certainly qualifies you to talk about your particular need to customize
Office, but by no means does it qualify you to generalize to the Office-using
population as a whole.

I have no idea how you use Office or what you require of it. I'm happy to
assume that you know it well and further, that you know exactly why it doesn't
suit your needs to customize it. I wouldn't presume to criticize your
decision not to do so.

It seems reasonable to suggest that since you've no idea how I or other
posters use office, you've no basis to to criticize our desire to customize it
to our own needs.

Thanks, I never feed trolls. That one likely got kicked off its
favorite WoW server, and needed somewhere else to be annoying for
awhile.
