| Problem installing office 2007 I have repeatedly tried to install Office 2007 and get to a certain part in the installation process and then get the message "Microsoft encountered an error during setup". The program then terminates and there is no error message to check. The copy of office is a purchased copy with a valid lisence. Can anyone help? |

| Re: Problem installing office 2007 Thanks for your reply Bob. Unfortunately this did not help I do not have a file called "rgstrtn.lck" on my computer, so this is not causing the problem. I have tried Installing different versions of office 2007, enterprise, professional and standard editions. Each gets so far in the installation then gives the error message. | Re: Problem installing office 2007 Hi Bob, Sorry about the confusion. I have an AMD Athlon 64 Processor, 1.79GHz, 2.43GB Ram. My operating system is Windows XP Home edition with service pack 3. I have currently got Office Student and Teacher Edition 2003 installed on my computer. I have initially purchased and tried to install office Enterprise 2007. This was unsuccesfull, so I wondered if it was a bad installation file (as I downloaded it). I then tried to install Office 2007 professional for comparisom and the same problem occured. So I just tried to install Office standard 2007 instead. Again the same response. Each time I have tried without uninstalling my current version of office and I have tried with uninstalling office 2003. It seems to make no difference. Is there a particular problem with 0ffice 2007? I have checked the system requirements and my system seems adequate. Is there a way to find out why the installation program is stopping at a certain point? "Bob I" wrote: > Sorry, but installing all those versions? | Re: Problem installing office 2007 I would have started with uninstalling the 2003 version first, considering you are putting on an Enterprise edition. The fix I supplied the link to says to unhide "rgstrtn.lck", before attempting the delete. Also Enterprise editions are supported through your IT people and directly by Microsoft as they are volume licensed only. Pick Enterprise at the link below. https://207.46.225.250/oas/default.a...rid=8753&&st=1 KC wrote: > Hi Bob, > > Sorry about the confusion. I have an AMD Athlon 64 Processor, 1.79GHz, > 2.43GB Ram. | Re: Problem installing office 2007 I have tried going through my IT department, but they say that they cannot help as it is for my personal computer at home. I purchased enterprise from the home user program. The link to microsoft support "https://207.46.225.250/oas/default.aspx?ln=en-us&x=13&y=8&gprid=8753&&st=1" is OK but I don't really want to pay the £199+VAT that is required for support. The file "rgstrtn.lck" is not on my computer as when I follow the steps from the knowledgebase help. When it get to the unhide command, it returns the comment "file not found". Any other ideas? | Re: Problem installing office 2007 Actually you merely paid shipping and handling to get the install media. You don't own the license, it belongs to the company you work for, and they are permitting you to use it to do work for them at home. If you leave the company, you lose the right to continue using it. It is in their interest to assist you.
