Printing issue: Wrong page count in Office Suite 2003

Hi, hope you can help !

I am a support for a public library. Page count on printing is important to
us so we can charge the patrons correctly.

Currently, I just found out an issue iwth Office 2003 printing (from Word,
Excel..etc)

Let's say, I have 1 page Word docuemnt. I want to print 10 copies of the
page in 1 print job. I open up the print queue on the client PC (double click
on the printer setup in Printers and Faxes). When I print it, I could see
there is a 1 page print job. Not 10 pages (1 x 10).

However, the page count for Wordpad and notepad, in this case, both show up
correct page count, which is 10.

I did all the update for Office Suite but could not fix the problem.

Hope you can help. I really appreciate it.

Thank you very much.

Re: Printing issue: Wrong page count in Office Suite 2003

Hi Bobson,

This may be a Windows or specific printer driver issue. If you send a one page Word document to the printer with 10 copies set in
properties Windows 'knows' it's going to reuse the same copy.

For me, in Word 2003, 2007, Notepad, MS Works wordprocessor and Wordpad when printing a one page document using File=>Print and
setting the copies to 10, the Windows print queue shows 1 page in each case.

Wordpad documents do show a split 'size' figure (the single and the total amount of data being sent to the printer.

It's not uncommon for printers in the environment you're working in to have monitoring software for catching the page count or to
have a meter on the printer itself.

Re: Printing issue: Wrong page count in Office Suite 2003

Hi Bob,

Thank you for your response. I thought of the printer drive issue too. The
issue I tried is on a kind of new HP 1022n. then I tried it on an older
printer 4050 with HP4 (older driver) but the problem remain the same...

Any other suggestion? So you still feel it is more like on the driver... I
will probably email to HP support and see if something they can do before
blaming on Bill :)

Thank you again for your help!
