| Re: i can't open .doc, .docx, .xls, .xlsx ... files no problem. it is a confusing issue you have. so correct me if I don't understand the following: at this time your laptop does not have office student or office professional installed. however, when you click on an office file, the installation process is initiated for the "hybrid" version but the mso files/folder cannot be found on the disk. there should be a folder on the drive called mso and it would have all the student office setup files that setup cannot locate. --------------------- what I would do is to double check "services" via admin tools and ensure that the service for "office source engine" and "microsoft office diagnostic" services are enabled. perhaps if they are disabled then this may be a problem. ------------------------ another thing to try it to go ahead and reinstall the student office version on the laptop since it was functional and you did not have this issue pertaining to setup. you may be able to use a system restore point to restore those system files. or perhaps you may even consider a factory restore to get the machine back to its original and functional state. ( but if you do, then be sure to copy or move your personal files off the disk or they will be wiped away. you can upload 25gigs for free up to microsofts skydrive server.) ------------------ then you can install office pro on the laptop into a different folder/directory. you will have two functioning office's but then you won't have the problem with setup. then we can work on having the student version removed. ------------------- there is yet one more option. if your office professional is new and a retail version, then you are entitled for direct technical support from microsoft at any time after purchase. this would be an ideal manner to have the issue resolved because it may be a bug "they" have to fix and document. --------------------- let me now what you think with the above options. -- db·´¯`·...¸><)))º> DatabaseBen, Retired Professional - Systems Analyst - Database Developer - Accountancy - Veteran of the Armed Forces - ********.com "share the nirvana" - dbZen ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ > > "halo_quebec" <haloquebec@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:A3E503AC-BBC9-4A5A-835B-2ED3DDA46283@microsoft.com... > first: i think i had office student 2007 with my laptop when i bought > it... > but i unistalled it and i installed 2007 professionnel... > > second: i have no problem to provide you the link, but how can i find it? > lol... > > and i want to tell you again, THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR YOUR HELP!!! > > > "db" wrote: > >> it is confusing because >> I'm not really sure where >> the "oem hybrid" comes >> from. >> >> if hp didn't provide it to >> you then, >> >> it seems to me that you >> should contact the sellers >> who provided you with >> that oem hybrid for instructions >> on how to select and activate >> the particular version of office >> you want. >> >> can you provide me with >> the link for the source of >> your oem hybrid? >> >> -- >> >> db·´¯`·...¸><)))º> >> DatabaseBen, Retired Professional >> - Systems Analyst >> - Database Developer >> - Accountancy >> - Veteran of the Armed Forces >> - Microsoft Partner >> - ********.com >> ~~~~~~~~~~"share the nirvana" - dbZen >> >> > >> > >> >> "halo_quebec" <haloquebec@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message >> news:D20FF24A-2A6E-490B-A19A-EEE041151E93@microsoft.com... >> > so i need to contact HP even if mmy office dont came from them? >> > >> > "db" wrote: >> > >> >> based on the posting below >> >> entitled, you may need to >> >> activate an office suite >> >> >> >> >> >> Solved: microsoft office 2007 hybrid : >> >> >> >> http://tinyurl.com/ncwbjt >> >> >> >> ------------------- >> >> >> >> sorry for the confusion. >> >> >> >> you might need to contact >> >> the provider of that oem >> >> software for assistance. >> >> -- >> >> >> >> db·´¯`·...¸><)))º> >> >> DatabaseBen, Retired Professional >> >> - Systems Analyst >> >> - Database Developer >> >> - Accountancy >> >> - Veteran of the Armed Forces >> >> - Microsoft Partner >> >> - ********.com >> >> ~~~~~~~~~~"share the nirvana" - dbZen >> |

| Re: i can't open .doc, .docx, .xls, .xlsx ... files At the moment, i use the office for small business that my father borrow me, because i though its was my profession the problem... i don't have Professionnel and Student anymore. I can use office by opening it or dragging&dropping office's files on office appropriate shortcut (like .xls on Excel shortcut) but when i double click on a file (like .xls) there is like a installation of professionel Hybrid 2007 that start for like 5-10 seconds then i get a error message telling me that my file path is incorrect and then the office application start blank. i tried "Microsoft office diagnotic" but it found no problem, i search "office source engine" in my research bar in my "startUp" and i found ose.exe, but when i click on it, nothing happened (i tried few times) i tried to reinstall student office version, but i didn't find how to... | Re: i can't open .doc, .docx, .xls, .xlsx ... files ok, then you should move or copy your personal files off the computer then review your laptops procedures for initiating a "factory restore". most laptops have a special method to initiate a "factory restore" which will revert your laptop to the state from the factory. the procedure will format the hard drive and then "re install" the original programs. ------------------- to me, this is the only option you have because: 1) your restore points go back only a few days and did not resolve the issue. 2) you removed both "office's" and still had the problem. 3) you cleaned the registry and still had the problem so, it's best to restore the laptop to its original and functional state via a "factory restore" or if vista was manually installed on the laptop with windows cd's, the "re-install" vista. but be sure you have the special hardware drivers for your laptop to install also. ------------- unfortunately, there is very little on the net about "hybrid" version of oem's. also, since I'm not in front of the laptop to see what you may be missing, it is difficult to provide you with any suggestions from where I am. -- db·´¯`·...¸><)))º> DatabaseBen, Retired Professional - | Re: i can't open .doc, .docx, .xls, .xlsx ... files you're welcome. also, you may want to "make" a restore point yourself after your system is in a perfect state and before you alter it by adding more programs. the o.s. will retain "manually created" restore points longer than the one's it makes. the manual restore point you make soon after you restore the laptop, may help you to circumvent future "factory restores" -- db·´¯`·...¸><)))º> DatabaseBen, Retired Professional - Systems Analyst - Database Developer - Accountancy - Veteran of the Armed Forces - ********.com "share the nirvana" - dbZen ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ > > "halo_quebec" <haloquebec@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:139CD01B-DF29-4512-9272-655882E54033@microsoft.com... > Ok then i ll do this ASAP... thank for your help > > "db" wrote: > >> ok, >> >> then you should >> move or copy your >> personal files off >> the computer >> >> then review your >> laptops procedures >> for initiating a "factory >> restore". >> >> most laptops have >> a special method to >> initiate a "factory restore" >> which will revert your >> laptop to the state from >> the factory. >> >> the procedure will >> format the hard drive >> and then "re install" the >> original programs. >> >> ------------------- >> >> to me, this is the only >> option you have because: >> >> 1) your restore points go >> back only a few days and >> did not resolve the issue. >> >> 2) you removed both >> "office's" and still had the >> problem. >> >> 3) you cleaned the registry >> and still had the problem >> >> >> so, it's best to restore the >> laptop to its original and >> functional state via >> a "factory restore" >> >> or if vista was manually >> installed on the laptop with >> windows cd's, the "re-install" >> vista. >> >> but be sure you have the >> special hardware drivers for >> your laptop to install also. >> >> >> ------------- >> >> unfortunately, there is very >> little on the net about "hybrid" >> version of oem's. >> >> also, since I'm not in front of >> the laptop to see what you may >> be missing, >> >> it is difficult to provide you >> with any suggestions from >> where I am. >> >> -- >> >> db·´¯`·...¸><)))º> >> DatabaseBen, Retired Professional >> - Systems Analyst >> - Database Developer >> - Accountancy >> - Veteran of the Armed Forces >> - Microsoft Partner >> - ********.com >> ~~~~~~~~~~"share the nirvana" - dbZen |
