Installing Office XP on a new computer with an existing version of

Bought a computer from a big retailer, has XP already on it and I've already
purchased a copy of Office XP previously. When I try and load XP onto the new
computer I run into Error 1608. I have a copy of Windows XP as well but I am
not sure if it will remove everything that I have already trasferred from the
old computer. Is there any way around this?

thanks

Re: Installing Office XP on a new computer with an existing versionof

You apparently have an "upgrade" version of Office XP, and the installer
program is looking for but cannot find a qualifying product for the
upgrade. Office 2003 is not a qualifying product. See
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290540/ "Products that qualify for the
Microsoft Office XP upgrade".

Re: Installing Office XP on a new computer with an existing versio

So if I understand you correctly, even though there is a newer version of
Windows XP on the new computer and I have an Windows Office XP - not an
upgrade - I cannot load office onto the new system? If I decide to put on
the older version of Windows XP on my computer - will it delete all the
programs or all my personal files if I do so?
thanks for your answer.....;)
