Microsoft Office 2000 cannot read Microsoft Office Pro 2007 docume

I did a resume using Microsoft Office Professional 2007 and it saved the
document as .docx. Microsoft Office 2000 cannot read the resume and I would
like to know why. What can I do so that both programs will read my resume?

..docx is the new Word 2007 file format. You can enable Office
2000 to open Office 2007 files by installing the Office 2007
compatibility pack as described in
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=923505 "How to install the
Microsoft Office Compatibility Pack so that you can use earlier
versions of Excel, PowerPoint, and Word to open and to save files
from 2007 Office programs".

Either install the compat pack per Garfield'n'Odie or save again from Word
2007; this time choose Save As and pick Word 97-2003 as Save As Type.

Open your document in Word 2007 - then use Save As to save in the 97-2003
format.
