pasting in form fields

I have created forms using WORD 2007, that is, I protected the document,
restricting to "filling in forms".
When I now go to fill up a form I cannot paste into the form fields. Can you
help?

Re: pasting in form fields

It sounds like you used Content Controls instead of form fields. The legacy
form fields are also on the Developers tab in the Controls group but found
under Legacy Tools.

While you can use content controls for protected documents they were
designed for use in unprotected documents. Is there a reason you need to
protect the document?

Re: pasting in form fields

I have the same issue and yes I used the Content Controls because they were
much cleaner and I figured would be supported properly within Word 2007 since
they are only in that program. We need to protect the document because we
only want these fields to be editable and it would be nice to be able to
paste into the fields. You can copy data out of the fields you just can't
copy data in. Hopefully there is a workaround????

Re: pasting in form fields

You can use "No changes (read only)" as the protection type and then mark
each Content Control as an Exception instead. This will allow you to paste
in the Content Controls. This also works around the inability to use Spell
Check in a protected document.
