HELP! Compatibility problem: Office 2007-Norton Internet Security

I've been using Office 2007 Professional Plus beta with no problems. After
updating Norton internet security 2006 to 2007 Office Word and Excel refuse
to open any documents because 'the virus protection program is not
compatible'.
(XP professional sp2)

This happens even if I create a new document, save it and try to re-open.

1. There doesn't seem to be any updates available for Office 2007 beta or is
there?

2. Is there any special offer for beta users for upgrading to released
version?

3. Which of the programs actually causes the problem?

Re: HELP! Compatibility problem: Office 2007-Norton Internet Security

There aren't updates for the beta because the release of the final software
has already started. Assuming you will be buying the full version of the
software in about three weeks, you may want to roll back to the NAV 2006
software until then.

Re: HELP! Compatibility problem: Office 2007-Norton Internet Security

Or, alternatively, if you intend to purchase Office 2007 at the end of January when it becomes available at retail, then download a fully functional 60 day trial RTM version and install that to see if the compatibility is better. Remember, few if any companies will support beta software - odds are that Norton has fixed it with the RTM Office 2007 that has been available for a couple of months.

Smack me upside my head for missing that option. :-) Especially since I'm
running Acrobat Pro v8's trial until the CDs arrive here in about a week or
so.

Re: HELP! Compatibility problem: Office 2007-Norton Internet Secur

Thank you for replying so soon. I think I'll just remove the Norton and rely
on MS-built-in protection. It's however a bit scary. Do you have an opinion
of how much the security weakens by this? I have to work with this PC, so I
don't have that much time to play with temporary updates. I'd prefer a system
that works. If I had it my way, I'd be running win 3.11 with no internet.

Why not use AVG in the meantime? It's free and quite nice. It may make you
wish you'd saved your money.
