Re: HELP! Compatibility problem: Office 2007-Norton Internet Secur

I know it's awesome but my trial ran out so I had to uninstall it because it
was being a brat. ... a real naggy brat.

I was trying to call Adobe to see if the STE was crippled in anyway...great
deal on Creative Suite if your a student btw., but didn't want to plunk down
all my xmas dough to have me turned down as a student. I guess I'll try
again Weds.

Re: HELP! Compatibility problem: Office 2007-Norton Internet Security

The problem is Norton - not Office. Their Office Plug-in, which scans for
viruses when opening files, has been a long-standing issue and has been a
known issue for Office 2007 files as well. The Office Plug-in has prevented
us from opening files numerous times (they'll 'fix' it and the same issue
will occur again), caused the application to crash when working with
embedded objects, and it causes a substantial delay when opening files.

In light of the issues it's caused prior to Office 2007 it's recommended the
Plug-in be turned off. You'll still protected by the AutoProtect layer. The
only thing the Plug-in can do that the AutoProtect layer can't do is scan
password protected files. I use Norton as well and am perfectly comfortable
turning it off. :-)

To disable the option, go to Norton Options and in the Miscellaneous section
and turn off "Enable Office Plug-in".
