If it comes with an office trial, remove it first. It's probably
better that way.

Since you said you have an upgrade version of Office you need to remove any
trial version and any activation assistant, reboot the computer, put your
Office 2007 DVD in the DVD drive, start the install and when the
installation program says it can't find a qualifying product, remove the '07
DVD, put in the qualifying product's CD/DVD and ensure the installation
program is pointed to the drive. Once it accepts the qualifying product,
remove the CD/DVD and reinsert your '07 DVD.

Now, if your new compute is coming with Microsoft Works 9 you can use that
as a qualifying product and if there is an error message about no qualifying
product found go to this web site for information to correct that known
issue: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/943290

Once you have installed Office 2007, you need to use Windows Update
{configured to update other Microsoft programs). You need to first open
Windows Update and select settings on the left side. In addition to
controlling how you update Windows Vista, there is a check box at the bottom
to also update other Microsoft programs.

I just did it with a initial issue Office 2007 Professional disc. Including
Service Pack 1, the initial set of updates resulted in a download of about
350 MB. lf a large download is a problem, you can obtain a Service Pack 1
disc from Microsost in North America {not sure of other regions}.

Re: loading upgrade office 2007 in a new computer

Some guy just suggest insertin the disc as the answer. Well I bought MS
Office S/W when I bought my new HP Laptop a few weeks ago. The HP had some
version of Office already installed as a temp version (25 uses allowed).
When i loaded the new Office disc--2 line instructions that came with the
product stated "...you will prompted to follow instructions...." I got
nothinf but a static screen display listing the contents of the disc I just
loaded. Now I see where a few guys here suggested jumping through hoops
playing computer geek to get get the $100+ product loaded when trial verrsion
is present. How about if the multi millionairre Director of Customer service
at MS--answers the phones and emails and inserts a 3rd line on the
instruction page telling what to do if a trial version is prent before non
geeks start erasings this or that program.
