| office beta 2007 crashed, now i can't open in office 2003 when i saved my files in word and excel, i saved them in the 97-2003 format. now, however, they all have an x after them (ie .xlsx or .docx). i know you all will say that i didn't save the right way, but i remember doing it that way because i had to choose that before saving. well, the whole beta thing just melted down one day and i had to uninstall. so now how do i open those files? i change the extension it doesn't work. and i cant' find anywhere to download the beta again. please help!! |

| Re: office beta 2007 crashed, now i can't open in office 2003 The beta is no longer available. You can use the RTM compatibility pack to open your files: http://blogs.msdn.com/microsoft_offi...hitepaper.aspx Patrick Schmid [OneNote MVP] -------------- http://pschmid.net *** Office 2007 RTM Issues: http://pschmid.net/blog/2006/11/13/80 Office 2007 Beta 2 Technical Refresh (B2TR): http://pschmid.net/blog/2006/09/18/43 *** Customize Office 2007: http://pschmid.net/office2007/customize OneNote 2007: http://pschmid.net/office2007/onenote *** Subscribe to my Office 2007 blog: http://pschmid.net/blog/feed "mollycase" <mollycase@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:A2B3DA2B-EAB3-4C15-85EA-F05C06D846F1@microsoft.com: > when i saved my files in word and excel, i saved them in the 97-2003 format. > now, however, they all have an x after them (ie .xlsx or .docx). i know you > all will say that i didn't save the right way, but i remember doing it that > way because i had to choose that before saving. > > well, the whole beta thing just melted down one day and i had to uninstall. > so now how do i open those files? i change the extension it doesn't work. > > and i cant' find anywhere to download the beta again. > > please help!! |

| Re: office beta 2007 crashed, now i can't open in office 2003 the compatibility pack tells me it can't convert my files. it says i have to open in Excel Beta 2 and then save it. apparently i had beta 1 (?). i had downloaded the technical refresh and then eveything went haywire, so i had to uninstall it. now i'm stuck. i know saved those files in the right way because it said "compatibility mode" at the top when excel or word was open. any other advice i will gladly take!! thanks "Patrick Schmid [MVP]" wrote: > The beta is no longer available. | Re: office beta 2007 crashed, now i can't open in office 2003 If it tells you to use Beta 2, then you are truly stuck without Beta 2.
