I've installed Office Professional Plus 2007, but I cannot figure out how to
launch Communicator 2007. According to the Office website, this application
is part of Office Professional Plus. Was it omitted from this suite, or am I
overlooking something?

You downloaded Office Professional, not Professional Plus.
MS has not made other SKUs (except the Enterprise one for VL) available
for download right now. Probably they are trying to prevent their
servers from going down under the load.

The licensing website does have the different suites available, although
you're right that MSDN and Technet are limited to Professional.

I was able to find the answer by taking another look at the comparison
matrix. At the bottom, it says that Communicator isn't due for release until
2007.
