| Outlook no longer working following exit from domain Hi, I have a customer who recently pulled his laptop out of his old company's domain. He was using Outlook (2003) and had a huge amount of e-mail and personal folder bits (Over 200Mb) and cannot now re-connect these to his stand alone outlook. He did not do a data export prior to removing the machine from the domain so all I have to work with are the files in C:\Documents and Settings\~USER~\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook. Can anoyone tell me how to link the old domain profile based data to his new stand alone Outlook Profile using the existing datafiles? Many thanks Jason -- Buggrit ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Buggrit's Profile: http://forums.techarena.in/member.php?userid=8156 View this thread: http://forums.techarena.in/showthread.php?t=624136 http://www.techarena.in |

| Re: Outlook no longer working following exit from domain WAs he using an .ost file for offline storage? If yes, you can try to open Outlook offline (pull the network cable) and try exporting to a ..pst. However, if he has already deleted his domain profile, the information is no longer available and he is out of luck. -- Milly Staples [MVP - Outlook] Post all replies to the group to keep the discussion intact. | Re: Outlook no longer working following exit from domain Hi thinks for the quick response. He removed himself from the domain and then found there was no access to his Outlook bits. He called me in and I searched for a PST file but found none. He does have a large Outlook Data File which I assume is the missing data. I'll call him in asec and get access to the machine so I can check what the file extension is. Given the info above, do you think we can recover his data. I thought perhapse reconnecting to the Domain would solve it? would that do it??? Thanks again for your help here. | Re: Outlook no longer working following exit from domain No, once the profile is blown away, any files associated with that profile are toast. If he can connect to the domain, sync his mailbox and create a new .ost file (not a .pst file), then he can disconnect the network, open Outlook and export the .ost to a .pst. However, this may not be what the network gods at his place of business desire so proceed at your own risk. -- Milly Staples [MVP - Outlook] Post all replies to the group to keep the discussion intact. | Re: Outlook no longer working following exit from domain > Thanks Milly. Luckily he seems to still be on good terms with them, so is going in there later this week. Once he is back on the domain, I'll take a further look at this.
