| RE: word and excell opening up very slow I have noticed this on my Office 2003 Pro since I got back from Xmas holiday. This only happens with Microsoft Office documents be on the local drive or on the network. Has anyone been able to remedy this issue? Is this caused from a recent update?? I recently had to update my workstation 1-5-09 AM EST and since then I too am having the same issues as my clients. Something else I noticed is that under task manager it comes up with "not responding" being shown twice, could this be Mcafee AV scanning the document before opening? I have used McAfee for years and this is the first time I have seen this happen. Anyone??? | RE: word and excell opening up very slow I look forward to help with this same problem. This morning when I opened Word, the Word logo box appeared on screen after about a minute, then it was another 45 seconds before the document itself opened. This has happened several times recently. Whenever I open the Task Manager box, nearly always it shows hp updates running - even though I have them scheduled to run only at certain times. | Re: word and excell opening up very slow Sounds like "HP updates" is an issue. Disable it and see if the problem ceases. OakCliffPeggy wrote: > I look forward to help with this same problem. | Re: word and excel opening up very slow I encountered a very annoying file opening delay problem after purchasing and installing the latest version of McAfee Security Center. Files opened quickly when selecting the file from within Word or Excel but deathly slow when just clicking on the file icon. It was cured on a visit to McAfee chat support. The tech had me first download and run a McAfee Cleanup program. Then he had me open the Security Center, go to "Maintain Computer" and run McAfee QuickClean using the default selections. After doing the above a reboot was required. Upon rebooting I was rewarded by rapid opening of Word, Excel and Acrobat documents when I double clicked on the file icon. I had been encountering delays of 30-100 seconds when double clicking icons either from Windows Explorer or from within emails. All is well now. -- jagrover ------------------------------------------------------------------------ jagrover's Profile: http://forums.techarena.in/members/151114.htm View this thread: http://forums.techarena.in/ms-office...rt/1096170.htm http://forums.techarena.in |
