Not Responding

This problem started slowly and is becoming a real problem. I upgraded to
Vista Ulitimate as well as Office 2007 when it came out.
I have all of the upgrades inculing SP2. The problem persists.
When opening a program I get the spinning circle and a "Not Responding"
message at the top of the sreen. It does not happen all of the time or with
any one program however it started with Outlook 2007 and is now happening at
various times with all programs.

I have a Dell laptop with 2g ram. It ususally takes a minute or two to do
what ever its doing and respond. I have also noticed that my CPU meter is
pegging 100% with only one program open and a not responding message. I look
up on task manager and shows Microsoft SQL server? what is that? I am not
connected to any servers, this is a stand alone machine.
any help would be appreciated.
Thank you

I hope you mean SP1. Neither Vista nor Office 2007 have SP2 yet....
