Move Office 2007 license to new PC

I just got a new Vista PC and want to install Office 2007 on it. Problem is
that I can't find my license. Is there any way I can find the license on my
old PC and copy it to the new one?

I am going to be retiring the old PC after that is done, so I will still be
only using 1 copy of the software.

What are you calling the license? You need the disks and the product key.
Which don't you have? You can't just copy the files from one system and
paste them in the other.

Download and run Belarc Advisor, it will have the product key when you run it on
your older computer.

I'm really curious how this is going to work. Even after Belarc Advisor
tells you the info you need for installing Office 2007 on your new machine,
I believe Microsoft will still show that your original software is on
another machine. You may have to "negotiate" with them, somehow.

Let us know how this turns out.

Re: Move Office 2007 license to new PC

I have a three user licence for Office 2007 Home and Student. We have used all three licences. But I have now replaced my daughters PC and scrapped her (steam driven) laptop.

Do I need to buy another licence or can I use the product key on her new PC now that we have scrapped the old one.

I cannot find any support from MS on this. Please help.

Home and student allows an install on three machines concurrently. Just
install it on the new machine. You may, (depending on the time scale) have
to activate over the telephone...

Re: Move Office 2007 license to new PC

Thanks for that - Ill just give it a try. We bought the Office suite a couple of months ago and it's one of the reasons we decided to dump the old laptop.

Assume if I need to phone someone that the number will be supplied at the time of activation? I have the box and code etc etc still but no obvious phone number on the box.

When you say "dumped" does that mean physically scrapped or have you passed
it on to someone else?
If you have passed it on to someone else then it needs to be uninstalled
from that machine.

Yes - if Internet activation fails you will be asked for your location and a
phone number appears...

Laptop has been scrapped - it's too old and too slow and too fragged to be of use to anyone. Thanks for your advice. It's really helped.
