Password for PDF file created in Word 2007

In Word 2007 I have created a doc file that is password protected.

I have installed the PDF converter and saved it in PDF format but I
can't seem to save it with a password.

Am I missing something or is this not possible?

If not, are there any other PDF creator programs out there that will
save with a password apart from Acrobat which is a bit expensive!

Re: Password for PDF file created in Word 2007

I can think of one reason. It could be something that gets posted to the net
and contains information that the poster doesn't want easily accessed by
others. Newsletters for non-profit groups, for example. They often contain
member's phone numbers. Yes, anything put out on the net can be hacked into
but it's better than just putting the info out there with no protection.

Re: Password for PDF file created in Word 2007

Hi Mary,

The MS Office 2007 PDF add-in is a fairly basic one, relying on the features that are royalty/fee free from the PDF specification.

For a more complete feature set you may want to use one of the 3rd party products, or Adobe Acrobat. If you only have occassional
need for this you may want to have a look at Adobe's online PDF creation capability (five documents for free under trial account).

Re: Password for PDF file created in Word 2007

You may put it in a ZIPfolder/file which supports Passwords and encryption.
