Upgrading from Microsoft Works 9 to Microsoft Office Standard 2007

I have Works 9 installed on my system. I am trying to do the upgrade to
Office Standard 2007.

The installer says "Setup can't find a version of Microsoft Office on your
computer".

I have tried the Browse function to go to the Works program files on the
Local Disk C:. And I have tried to Browse to Drive E: where I have inserted
the Works install disk. Neither method works and I get the message "The path
you have chosen does not point at a qualifying upgrade product. Click 'Retry'
to try again or 'Cancel' to quit setup.

Would appreciate any advice on what I might be doing wrong.

Thanks

There is an utility you can download...

Error message when you try to upgrade Works 9 or Works SE 9 to an upgrade
version of a 2007 Office suite

Re: Upgrading from Microsoft Works 9 to Microsoft Office Standard

I have the same issue, I like the utility solution, however I do not have
the CD to insert after running the utility as my "works" software is part
of a bundle installed on my new Hp's hard drive. What can I do to get my
office Small Business upgrade to install?

Re: Upgrading from Microsoft Works 9 to Microsoft Office Standard

Are you saying you don't have Works installed? Did you get recovery disks? When
the utility asks for the CD, can you browse to the bundle?

Re: Upgrading from Microsoft Works 9 to Microsoft Office Standard

You can browse to the bundle but the Works updater is looking for the
original .msi file which is not on the computer. Is there any other way of
applying this update or any other way of updating Office?

Re: Upgrading from Microsoft Works 9 to Microsoft Office Standard

I can only advise you the same as the other poster, download the utility.

Error message when you try to upgrade Works 9 or Works SE 9 to an upgrade

You might ask on the Works newsgroup, they may have ideas for you.
