| Change default file type in explorer All of our partners are still using Office2003, so we decided to save all files in the old format. You can configure this to be default format in Word easily. But if I use in the file explorer a right click to create New -> Word document, then it still creates a .docx file. How can I change this to create a Office2003 compatible .doc file? |

When you right-click in Explorer and select New, you should see separate entries in the menu for "Microsoft Office Word Document" and "Microsoft Office Word 97 - 2003 Document". The first one creates a .docx file, and the second one creates a .doc file. These entries are the result of registry keys that are (or at least should be) created by the Office 2007 installer. If you don't see both of them, try rerunning the Office installer and doing a Repair. -- Regards, Jay Freedman Microsoft Word MVP FAQ: http://word.mvps.org Email cannot be acknowledged; please post all follow-ups to the newsgroup so all may benefit. |
