| Can't modify Excel file after Word Mail Merge I created a file in Excel, then did a Mail Merge from Word using that Excel file as the data source. I later tried to modify the Excel file but when attempting to save it, got alert "<file.xls> is locked for editing ... " even though Word had been closed. My workaround is to do a save-as <file2.xls> then delete <file.xls> and rename the saved-as file to <file.xls>. Does the Dynamic Data Exchange force this or is there a way to modify a data source file and reuse it? Only the data fields are modified not the header record. I must be doing something wrong but don't know what it is. Any ideas? |
