I have been using the Document Image Writer "printer" for some time now, and
suddenly it stopped working. If I choose it, nothing happens. No dialog
boxes or anything. If I choose "printer preferences", something flashes as
if it's trying to open something, but it disappears so fast you can't see
what it was. If I try to delete and reinstall the port, it says "Selected
port cannot be deleted. The request is not supported." I have tried
uninstalling and reinstalling using add & remove programs for Office 2003
professional, with no change in results.

I have exactly the same problem on a Vista machine. The symptoms are
identical. Removing and installing back the printer from the Outlook setup (I
only have Outlook from Windows SBS, not other programs in Office) doesn't
resolve the problem either.

Has anyone a solution for this issue which seems to be occuring to multiple
people (probaby a registry key to update or a patch from Microsoft to be
applied)?
