How can I change the text in a document I scaned?

How do I change the text of a document that I have scaned? I would like to
update my company invoice and I need to add or remove text to that document.
Can I do this with Office Student and Teacher Edition 2003 or do I need to
purchase another software program to achieve my task.

Re: How can I change the text in a document I scaned?

You'll need to convert the scanned image (which is a picture of text) into
actual text using OCR (optical character recognition). If you installed
Office's optional document imaging feature, you can do it (with varying
amounts of success) using document imaging. For additional information,
press F1 in Word, type ocr into the help search field, and press Enter. Then
click on "Use text or pictures frrom an online fax or a scanned document".

Caveat: never having used the student/teacher version of Office, I don't
know if document imaging is included... but I would be surprised if it's
not. However, you might need to go into Control Panel - Add/Remove
programs - Microsoft Office - etc., and add it if it wasn't installed by
default.
