| Spell check not working in Office 2007 I have installed our updated Office 2007 on my computer only to test before I consider rolling it out to 20 users. Overall happy but the spell check is garbage- first noticed it in Outlook, now checked it in Word- the custom dictionary is running and English US is selected but it missed any mis-spelt words. The following phrase passes the spell check in every application: Whoy doesn’t microsoft know what the fark it is doing? I have checked all my settings and it looks ok, the spell check just seems to be no-operative, help please! |

| Re: Spell check not working in Office 2007 First, click the Microsoft Office Button, close it, and see if spell check begins to work. (Believe it or not, there's a slight bug with spell check and the Microsoft Office Button, you need to click it once for it to start working. Note that this only applies to new installations and it will only happen once.) If that doesn't work then if no custom spell checker have been installed on the computer, exit Word, and then backup and delete the following registry key: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Shared Tools\ProofingTools\1.0\Override\en-US This key will be rebuilt the next time you start Word. | Re: Spell check not working in Office 2007 I am having a problem with Outlook 2007 spell check not working. All my settings are correct. It seems to work sporatically. My Word 2007 spell checking is working correctly. My e-mail messages are created in HMTL could this be causing the problem? It will not automatically check as I have selected, then when I manually check spelling I get a message saying omplete, and ignored text marked do not check (I don't ahve any text marked do not check). Please help this is making me a little crazy :) Should I try the register fix noted in the earlier e-mail.....will this work form Outlook or only WORD? | Re: Spell check not working in Office 2007 Based on your error message (which is always helpful!) the Registry fix isn't what you need. On the Message tab under Spelling/Set Language, there is an option in the dialog box named "Do not check spelling or grammar". If this option is selected then you'll encounter the message you cited. Note if you want to remove the option for the entire email you need to select all of the text prior to deselecting the option. If this happens on every email then exit Outlook and either rename it or delete NormalEmail.dotm. A new one will be created when Outlook is started again. It should be located in your Templates folder which can be found by copy/pasting the following in the Address bar of the Windows Explorer: %AppData%\Microsoft\Templates ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Beth Melton Microsoft Office MVP https://mvp.support.microsoft.com/profile/Melton What is a Microsoft MVP? http://mvp.support.microsoft.com/gp/mvpfaqs Guides for the Office 2007 Interface: http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/tr...295841033.aspx "Brookie" <Brookie@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:B7FCC5E0-B78F-4FDF-8AA1-84173288E866@microsoft.com... >I am having a problem with Outlook 2007 spell check not working.
