Outlook 2003 will not open

Over the past few days I started receiving an error message when opening
Outlook, it was > The add-in "C:\PROGRAM~1\SPAMBL~1\Bin\461~1.0\SBOLExt.dll "
could not be
> installed or loaded. This problem may be resolved by using Detect and Repair
> on the Help menu.

I attempted to run Detect and Repair several times to no avail. I then
found on here a suggestion to remove a file, extend.dat, which I did. After
rebooting Outlook still gave me the same error message and I looked for that
file once again and it was still there. Now after removing the file once
again, when I attempt to launch Outlook, I do not get the error message
above, but Outlook will not launch at all without giving me the window
indicating that Outlook has failed to launch and to send or not send an error
report.

Any suggestions out there???????

Uninstall and reinstall??? If so will I lose my mail and contact
information? And if so, would I do it with the original CD?

Look in Tools->options->other->advanced->COM Add-ins and Add-in Manager. See if you have something installed that references that extension. If yes, disable it and close/reopen Outlook.

Thanks, but I am unable to even open Outlook. I do have Cloudmark
Spamblocker installed, might that be the problem?

Re: Outlook 2003 will not open

Does Outlook open in Safe mode? start->run->outlook.exe /safe

If yes, uncheck all add-ins. Restart Outlook in normal mode and check
add-ins one by one (closing and restarting Outlook each time) until you find
the faulting application.

Disabling Cloudmark is also a good idea since I heard that they had a bad
definition update - see the Cloudmark help forums or their home page for
more information.
