Error message when PowerPoint shuts down

Since upgrading to Office 2007 Professional I have been having a problem with
both PowerPoint and Word.
When the document is closed and I exit the programme, both Word and
PowerPoint close and then I receive a message that there is an error in the
programme and it will attempt to restart. Word then resrtarts and I can close
it again without any further problem but PowerPoint attempts to restart and
gives me an error message. Next time I start PowerPoint it tells me it did
not shut down properly and sometimes attempts to start in safe mode. Other
times it just locks up. I have reinstalled the programme and run the
diagnostics programme. Only reinstalling it allows me to start the programme
the next time around, then it is back to the same tricks. It is very annoying
and frustrating having to re-load the programme each time I want to use it. I
prepare PowerPoint presentations at least Twice each week.

What does the error message say?

If you go to Office Button | PPT Options | Add-ins, what all is listed
there?

Re: Error message when PowerPoint shuts down

All of these add-ins are ones that ship with PPT as part of the document
inspector, so those shouldn't be causing problems.

I'm stumped. The fact that a reinstall fixes it temporarily is particularly
interesting.

Hopefully someone else will pop here with ideas. You might want to post in
the PowerPoint-specific group to see if anyone there has any ideas, too.

Oh, what antivirus program do you use?
