| Office application version does not match I've recently installed Office 2007 ultimate on my Vista laptop. Before doing so I uninstalled the trial Office that came with the laptop. (I have yet to activate). When I open Word I get a pop up telling me the above message. The source of the message seems to be something called BCM Office Admin. What is BCM? What does the message refer to? How do I fix the issue? |

I just read a reply to a similar post to mine. I did uninstall the trial version *before* installing. I then installed Project Pro - no message. Then installed Office Ultimate 2007 - message. I did not install Outlook as part of the install. I have been through the add/remove features of Office 2007 and can't find anything related to BCM. |

If you did not install either Outlook 2007 or Business Contact Manager, I do not understand why you are receiving the message unless you enabled a feature in one of the other applications that also uses BCM. In the Office 2007 Professional package there is a second CD that contains ..Net updates, Business Contact Manager and a Accounting Program {US}. The second CD has its own setup programs which is not tied into the setup program for Office. If you insert the second CD in your drive you are first offered the .Net updates and then a menu for installing the BCM and/or Accounting Programs. Both are optional. I do not know if you can by-pass the .Net updates. Don |

Found something called MS Small business connectivity. Inside here was a BCM folder. Went to control panel and uninstalled. No change. Went back into CP and found BCM for outlook 2007 and chose uninstall. It asked if I wanted to uninstall BCM and SQL Express. I selected "yes" It's now telling me I can't uninstall BCM until I do something to Windows Mail accounts. This laptop is 100% standalone... no network/internet. I will follow it's advice and report back. |

I got the message that I could not uninstall BCM until I went into user accounts, selected mail, data files, BCM, remove. It then says that the Mail icon will not show unless I have outlook installed and have run it at least once! Catch 22? |

And regardless of all of the above - it worked. No more msg. |

| Re: Office application version does not match I experienced the same set of issues. Removing BCM and the associated SQL did the trick. I too got the same message about the need to reconfigure Outlook data files. With no Outlook on the notebook I simply continued to proceed with the uninstall. This resolved the issue of the BCM Addin dialogue box appearing each time I opened an Office 2007 application (on Vista). -- Lee Mack ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Lee Mack's Profile: http://forums.techarena.in/members/lee-mack.htm View this thread: http://forums.techarena.in/ms-office-support/779905.htm http://forums.techarena.in |
