Using Active Directory in a database

While creating an equipment database I realised that one of the tables was
really a subset of Domain User information held within Active Directory.
Rather than duplicating that info can I incorporate specific fields from the
AD user directory as a table and what implications would there be if the DB
User was not an AD Admin or similar.
