Re: Changing a default setting

In Word, click on the Office button, click Word Options, click Save, and
choose "Word 97 - 2003" from the drop-down menu. Excel is a simliar process.

Saving Office documents in 97-2003 version as default

While there appears to be no way to change the default setting, there is a
solution. Click on "Office" logo in upper lft corner, go to "Save As" and
drag pointer over to "(program name) 97-2003 and Right Click, click on "Add
to Quick Access Toolbar" and you're done. I suggest going one step further
and moving the QA toolbar below the ribbon so it is easier to see. From now
on, when you click that icon, your document will be saved in the previous
format.

Re: Saving Office documents in 97-2003 version as default

This does not work. The only thing that does help is putting the icon on the
active tool bar below the ribbon.

If someone knows of a real fix for changing the default save feature please
let me know.

I don't know what you've done, but doing Office Button-Word Options (bottom
R/H side)- Save- and under Save Documents change the "Save files in this
format" drop-down box to Word 97-2003 format and then OK out does NOT "put
an icon below the ribbon" and DOES mean that if you click on "Save" the
document IS saved in .doc format.
