office 2000-have product key-how do i get it on new laptop

Hi. I have an old product key for office 2000. Have new laptop which, after
30day trial period is asking me for product key for office 2003. I don't
especially want to buy 2003 but it won't accept product key for 2000 that I
have. Is it possible to use 2000? If so could someone explain how in words of
1 syllable..ie I'm no computer expert! Thanks ;-)

If you have a retail version of Office 2000, you can install it from the
CDs. You can also use those CDs as the qualifying product for an upgrade to
Office 2007 (or 2003 if you could still find it.).

You have to uninstall the trial first
