| office 2003 student and teacher I installed office 2003 student and teacher in two computers. That caused both computers to freeze. When I opened the Internet browser, I could go to one or two sites, then everything was frozen. Could not do anything, not even shut the computer the normal way, I could not open task manager or anything else. I uninstalled office 2003, and everything is ok now. Does anybody knows what happened? |

| Re: office 2003 student and teacher Same symptoms on both PCs? That's really weird. Where did you purchase Office S&T? Does the Office application otherwise function normally? Is IE the only problem? What kind of PCs are these (make, model, specifications, etc.)? What kind of internet connection (dial-up, broadband)? I have been having the exact same issue on my Dell laptop. It was running smoothly for 10 months with Office 2003 TS Edition preinstalled from the Dell factory, but then I had to do a complete XP reinstall due to an issue with my cd-rom drive not being recognized. After reinstalling the system, I reinstalled Office 2003 and the system began to freeze. I could not even open the task manager. At first I thought it was Mcaffee causing problems so I uninstlled it. But the problem kept occurring. I reinstalled yet again another fresh XP system and reinstalled Office as well. I opened Word and it locked up. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling Office four or five times and the system even locked up up on the uninstall. Every other program locks up eventually as well with Office installed. I have since removed Office altogether and my PC works great again!! Luckily, I have Office on my Mac (OS 10.4) and it runs flawlessly. Macs, gotta love em!! I would however like to work in Word on my Dell PC, but really don't want to deal with it at this point. If anyone knows of any known issues, I'd love to hear about them. So far, I have seen this issue reported twice - once here and once on another tech website. Each instance, including mine, has happened within the past month - odd. Thanks, John |
