| microsoft office 2007 validation denied I am trying to backup my pst folders easily, since they are so large, because I want to transfer to my new computer. I think backup to a cd should suffice, but I need the tool due to the size. I have a brand new genuin version of Office 2007 and a genuine version of XP pro SP2 on my current system. When I try to download the backup tool, it tells me my validation is denied. I know both Office and XP have been registered, and I think I get all updates. If I ever have to go to winbdows to get an update, it always verifired me before without problem. I can see this one will be an all nighter n the office. Any help you can give would be greatly appreciated. Thank you, BG -- bg |

| Re: microsoft office 2007 validation denied Is this by chance a new computer? I ask because I encountered a similar problem earlier today after installing Office 2007 Professional on my wife's new notebook. In my case, unbeknownst to me (it wasn't in the specs for the computer), it already had the trial version of Office 2007 Home & Student. So, when I tried to validate to download the XPS/PDF download, validation failed. There's a link you can click when it fails, however, that's supposed to tell you exactly why it failed. In my case, it indicated the presence of Home & Student and no valid key for it. After removing Home & Student, validation worked fine. So... if there are any unactivated relevent Office products, validation will fail. -- Herb Tyson MS MVP Author of the Word 2007 Bible Blog: http://word2007bible.herbtyson.com Web: http://www.herbtyson.com "bgitter" <bgitter@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:AF1AD730-FD58-4387-B616-B19CAA5DF432@microsoft.com... >I am trying to backup my pst folders easily, since they are so large, >because > I want to transfer to my new computer. | Re: microsoft office 2007 validation denied Herb, No, this is an old computer. The pst files however are over 1.5G and I will have a difficult time moving them. Need to burn to DVD, since this tool wont download. But I am also concerned about the future problems I may run into. I will re-install office 2007 on the new computer and hope there are no issues. -- bg "Herb Tyson [MVP]" wrote: > Is this by chance a new computer? | Re: microsoft office 2007 validation denied This helped me out. I had the exact same issues. I did not realize I needed to uninstall the trial edition of Home & Student. I had just installed Office Professional After uninstalling the Student version I could correctly pass the Validation and download the PDF file tool and the Non Commercial Use stuff on the top of the Office Professional software also went away. A note for future readers of the post the removing of Home & Student does not trash the regular Office software. I was a bit worried the removal might result in the need to reinstall the full Version of Office. But removing Home & Student did not mess up the normal Office which was installed.
