| Unable to Open/Unistall/Reinstall Office Pro XP Hi. This is about my 6th attempt at this post but when I click on post nothing happens so pleas excuse me if all of a sudden a bunch of the same post appears. During the last week I've be trying to download/install/run Office Pro 2007 Trial version. The first time I couldn't get it to install so I did a System Restore and downloaded it again. This time it installed but when I went to run MS Word it told me my 60-day trial had expired. (No I've never tried any Office product trials before.) This second time it got to about 80% install when I got Error 1406: Setup cannot write the value to the registry key. So today I tried a third install and got Error 1706. Setup cannot find the required files. Check your connection to the network, or CD-ROM drive. I decided that's enough and did another Sys Restore to about a week prior to my first 2007 Trial attempt. When I went to open Office XP Word installer window saying Preparing To Install. (Install what??.) And then I got a Problem With Shortcut error message saying "This patch package could not be opened. Verify that the patch package exists and that you can access it, or contact the application vendor to verify that this is a valid Windows Installer patch package." (Again, what patch package? All I was trying to do was open Office XP Word.) I then decided to go to Add/Remove Programs and uninstall/reinstall Office XP Pro but when I click on Remove absolutely nothing happens. My OS is XP Pro. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. -- nnicko |
