| Ten years old: the world's first MP3 player A new blog entry has been added: Ten years old: the world's first MP3 player Quote:
Here's a fun look back into the past. Just 10 years can make a huge difference in the technology world. It was 10 years ago this month that the first MP3 players came on the market.
The MPMan F10 was the very first MP3 player--with an impressive 32MB of storage. That's enough for only a very few songs. It measured approximately 6 1/2 inches by 3 1/2 by 2 3/4 inches, connected via parallel port to the host computer, and cost $250.
Gradually, over the years, MP3 players gained popularity as the physical size diminished and the storage increased. Now we would laugh at packing around such a huge (in comparison) player with so few songs. I wonder how many of us still have a Rio or MPMan stored away in a drawer or box somewhere.
