Firefox 2 installation over 1.5 in Ubuntu. Update Problem

I have Firefox 2.0 installed using a script which someone suggested.
On dapper drake. I can now access Firefox 2 from the Icon on the top
start bar. However, my problem is everytime the system wants to
update, it wants to revert to 1.5. How do I get rid of this?

My possible solution was that I was thinking of changing all the repos
in the sources.list file to edgy fiesty I think. This would allow me
access to version 2.0 in the edgy repo's. Also I would get all the
latest edgy updates. Or is this a really bad idea?

If so how do I stop the software update stop trying to update 2.0.0.1
to 1.5? Or downgrade as it were.

Thanks.

I presume you're running Dapper Drake (6.06). In which case, do not change
your repositories to feisty. upgrading this way could do serious damage.

You'll need to upgrade to Edgy Eft (6.10) first. Funnily enough, this
includes firefox 2 as standard.

$ sudo apt-get update
$ sudo apt-get upgrade
$ sudo apt-get dist-upgrade

If you really want to upgrade to Feisty, simply input those commands once
Edgy is installed.

I would love to upgrade to edgy unfortunately due to bandwidth
problems I had to rely on free CD's being sent. Broadband is expensive
in South Africa. They only send out Dapper Drake.

Interesting. Edgy is about a 300mb download.

If you want a copy of edgy sending out to you, send over your mailing
address to the email address in this post.
