ntfs-3g (NTFS filesystem access driver) question

I installed and am using the ntfs-3g driver for linux for accessing
data on a ntfs drive (large video files, SATA 3gb/s drive). I wanted
the video files to be able to be large and accessible for very fast
read/write, hence the SATA-2 drive with 3Gb/sec; but now I am
wondering, what slowdown overhead if any does the ntfs-3g driver have
on all that? Is there a layer of "emulation" or whatever it might be
called so that the data is read significantly slower off the ntfs
system by linux using nfts-3g? If so, that might explain why video
playback is so bad in a linux video editor like cinelerra, jahshaka,
etc. (for large files; small files no problem).

I've had no issues with read/writing to my NTFS partitions, using
ntfs-3g.I don't see any issues with copying 4.7gb ISO files across and I
don't notice any performance issues.

In fact I am surprised you are getting performance issues at all.. I
have a USB2 NTFS partition on my server in the cellar, and the computer
can transfer video files 'live' and i have no stuttering or network
congestion, even if my kids are playing games or the misses is browsing
the network on another PC.
