| Peice of Linux Os... So I downloaded PCLinuxOS and tried to boot it but it hangs at the goofy progress bar going about an inch across the screen. Why do they hide the boot messages with a splash screen anyway? Tried it on my desktop too and the same thing happens; gets to the same spot and quits. Funky minimum system requirements. I checked the media on this HP laptop thats only two years old. Booted just fine. It wouldnt boot on my Pentium M 1400mhz 256mb ram Dell laptop without hanging. Same with my P III 800mhz Dell desktop. I thought PCLinuxOS was a lighterweight distro...guess they're shooting for newer hardware. Bummer. |

There's a PCLOS w/ lxde that ought to be a lot lighter. Also an E-17 one. lxde would be lightest; e-17 weight would comparable to xfce which there is also a pclos xfce. -- Mike Easter |
