ok linux ladygurls...

Listen up. This dosent work. Sure its a nice little instructable but
if you follow a recipie line by line and double check it and it
*still* dosent work, its time to rework your little "easy peasy"
"just for n00b13z" lesson plan.

71 post discussion of the Lin'N'WinNewB project's installation in the
Puppy forum starting 2008 Nov.

http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=44098 This installer
uses the Lin'N'WinNewB Project method as the basis for installing, but
is not associated with the Lin'N'WinNewB Project or Puppy Linux in any
manner.

There are a lot simpler methods to accomplish the same ends as Brian
Grainger's. I'm not really sure why he wanted to do it that way.

Are you looking for a simpler method which doesn't involve partitioning?
You might consider wubi for the upcoming Ub 9.10, which Ub is supposed
to be very appealing

I'm a lady. I use two different flavors of Linux. I don't use PuppyLinux - too
easy. I use SuSE and Mandriva - and I didn't need lessons on either. It's easy
to learn if you *want* to learn.

I suppose now I'll have to install Puppy to see what the big hoohaa is all
about. But I don't expect it to be any more difficult than the other two. :)

A. That depends on whether by `stamp out' you mean `eliminate'
or `reproduce rapidly in great quantity.'

Puppy has issues with serial mice in versions from 2.x.x onwards.

Read the comments at the end of the article too. Maybe MINT linux would be a
good choice.

I tried zenwalk. Looked promising. But the xserver configuration would hang
during install.

Including the most recent releases, I prefer vanilla Mint7 over vanilla
Ub9.04

There's more to Mint than just some proprietary codecs on top of Ub.

Now you've mentioned Puppy and Zenwalk. Does this mean that you are
aiming at some kind of 'retro' or low resource machine -- since both
Puppy & Zenwalk have a reputation of being slim.

Its a Pentium M processor, and the total ram is 256mb...so yeah it would favor
a lighter weight desktop enviroment. Something fluxboxy or xfce...
Plus my DSL connection is about 128 on average for speed. Occasionall i can get
700 or so.
