| Xandros not installing Used to run Xandros 3.0 on another computer. Now upgraded to Intel dual core with Foxconn mobo and Xandros hangs on install. Tried to install the trial version of Xandros - no better luck. The live PCLinuxOS CD will not run. Does anyone know if there is a problem loading Linux distros on a dual core system? The only distro that runs a live CD that I have found is Simply Mepis, but there seems to be a lot of unfavorable reviews for that one. |

Much depends on what dual core cpu from intel you have, IA64 or EM64T, if you have an IA64 then you have a lot less options to pick from, while the EMT64T will work with i386, i486, i586, i686 and AMD64 distros. Sometimes you may have to turn off some features in the kernel, even if you don't use RedHat, thise options works the same way http://www.redhat.com/docs/manuals/e...-bootopts.html Always try to have as recent kernel as possible, you can find more out about which kernel is used in which distribution by visiting www.distrowatch.com With the huge amount of information we have got, it's not possible to give any better answer. -- //Aho |

Thanks for that information. I am not too knowledgable about computer internals - but does D945 look like a promising CPU number? |
