| Evolution can't send or receive Running Ubuntu 8.04 with Evolution 2.22.2. Last friday my pc froze, so I ctrl-alt-backspace and logged in again. From then onwards the send/receive button in Evolution is blank, i.e. the text on the button is very pale and clicking it does nothing. Composing an email and sending leaves the email sitting in the outbox. I've tried removing and re-installing Evolution via Synaptic, but no luck. Any suggestions, besides using another email client? TIA Rob |

There hasn't happen anything with the evolution binaries or default settings, so re-installing will not do any difference. > Any suggestions, besides using another email client? Look for where evolution stores it's files in your home directory (hidden files), one of those files has most likely been damaged, removing the file will solve your problem (which file to remove I don't know). -- //Aho |

However ... after killing evolution with c-a-bs or with a 'kill' it is wise to do a evolution --force-shutdown otherwise the data server may still be running. |

Check your processes for an errant Evolution PID, purge ~/.evolution/cache/*. Use stable software rather than the Debian "testing" branch Ubuntu employees. > I've tried removing and re-installing Evolution via Synaptic, but no luck. Abandon the Windows mentality. I "installed" new kernel and screwed system from bad to worse to the point that reinstalling remained the only option. May or never be the last resort for many experts here, but for some, reinstalling does bring some peace of mind, though not always. Arty |
